On her third album, Aloka’s Grace, singer-songwriter Siri Sadhana Kaur adds plenty to her musical skills: she presents as well powerful as gentle chants and mantras from the tradition of Kundalini Yoga, some of the poetic verses of the Jap Ji by Guru Nanak, and the wonderful closing ballad To make the Impossible Possible in a broad, uniquely moving musical range.
With her powerful voice, the elaborate arrangements, and a vast instrumental setting, Siri Sadhana Kaur spans a wide musical arc, ranging from more reduced and calm pieces with beautiful, Irish Folk-based flute melodies all the way to intoxicating chants which are carried out by a whole choir, such as in the Peace Mantra Sat Narayan Wahe Guru Hari Narayan Sat Nam with its driving rhythmical beats, allowing a totally new mantra-experience.
Putting all these qualities together, Aloka’s Grace becomes a great album which we range amongst the best CDs that have recently been published – with a great musical variety that will make you want to listen to this album over and over again, while each time discovering something new.
